Plan a Visit

Sarah and Gigi at St Philip's Episcopal in RichmondWe understand visiting a new church can be an intimidating experience. Our hope is to provide a warm, friendly, open environment where you will feel genuinely welcomed. We also hope you get the most out of your experience here with us at St. Philip's.

What Will My Kids Do?

Children are the lifeblood and the future of our church. We have specific worship and instructional programs available for them.  We have a nursery during the 10:30 am worship service. The nursery is not just babysitting. It's a Sunday School for young children. For our older kids, we have a Sunday School during the 10:30 am worship service.

8 am or 10:30 am: Which Service Should I Attend?

That's a great question! The 8 am service has no music and tends to be about 50 minutes long. There is less "getting together" after this service than there is after the 10:30 am service. There is also an Adult Sunday School in the parish hall afterwards. It's pretty easy to slide in there after the service with a cup of coffee in hand.

Sunday School

As we said before, there is an Adult Sunday School after the 8 am service. It's from 9 am to 10 am. We have a choir member who makes sure we stop on time - every time. We usually cover the gospel reading for that Sunday although the Holy Spirit sometimes directs off that topic onto other discussions.

The 10:30 am Service

This service has music with our choir in the loft. The services are a bit longer and end at about 11:50 am. Our music is a mix of traditional Episcopal hymns, African American gospel, and contemporary Christian music. Both our services are great!
