We Have a New Priest-in-Charge!

Dear St. Philip’s Sisters and Brothers,

The Wardens and Vestry of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church are delighted to announce the calling of The Reverend Marlene E. Forrest as our parish’s new Priest-in-Charge.

Rev. Marlene (as she prefers to be called) comes to St. Philip’s from St. Peter’s in the Woods, in Fairfax Station, Virginia, where she has served as the Assistant Rector for Youth and Family Ministries since 2018.

In their letter of recommendation to the Vestry, the Discernment Committee said Rev. Marlene possesses the key attributes desired by our congregation as well as the knowledge base and skillset required to aid in the continued spiritual development of the congregation and growth of the church.  The Vestry whole-heartedly agrees that her gifts, skills and experience align with our parish needs, and that Rev. Marlene is the right shepherd for us as we begin the next chapter of our life together as a church.

Rev. Marlene will preach and celebrate the Eucharist for the first time as our Priest-in-Charge on February 23, 2020.  A meet-and-greet is also being planned.

On behalf of the Vestry, I thank you again for all you have done to support and sustain our church over the past year.  We look forward to the wonders that will come to St. Philip’s and our community as we partner with Rev. Marlene in listening for and moving towards God’s call.

Attached is a letter of greeting and introduction from Rev. Marlene.

In thanksgiving and gratitude,

Vickie Marshall Seymour, Senior Warden
